When Our Hearts Are Filled With Prevailing Hope … We Lean Into Challenges More Consistently

What distinguishes fear from faith … is fundamentally the platform they are established on. Fear is built on a platform of doubt while faith stands on determined confidence.

Clearly, it is from a platform of faith that we can live our best life. This is what enables us to experience favor from God and to see the fulness of God being established in us and expressed from us.

The scripture plainly and powerfully declares to us that, “God has not given us the Spirit of fear; but one of power, love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

It is in the heart of God to fill us with abundant hope and to further fashion that hope into “prevailing hope”. He provides the presence of hope … but He has predestined us to live with prevailing hope.

The truth is that when our hearts are filled with prevailing hope …

▪ we love with greater expectation
▪ we learn to see opportunities like never before
▪ we linger longer with those in need
▪ we leave disturbing doubt behind
▪ we lose our fear of failure and the future

Beyond all of this, here is another profound reality for us to consider …

When Our Hearts Are Filled With Prevailing Hope … We Lean Into Challenges More Consistently

Brenda McKee is the author of, “Prevailing Hope – When Life Hurts” and she says this, “Prevailing hope is my story, and my heart – to give you hope in the midst of all we go through on this earth. It’s my journey, and how the Lord has shown me how I can be okay, even when life is not okay. My prayer is that all who read this, will draw closer to the Source of All Hope – the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Brenda speaks openly about her 30 plus year battle with Multiple Sclerosis and other severe health issues, along with the heartbreak of domestic violence. Brenda has endured with prevailing hope and been an inspiration to many!

Her story confirms that …

Lysa TerKeurst, in her article, “God Sees, God Knows, God Cares” adds another point of perspective for us as well.

“When life gets hard, we can sometimes wonder if God is blind to all we’re facing. We need to continually remind ourselves that we serve a God who sees. He is an all-knowing, ever-present God who is continually aware of every detail of our lives. Not only is God aware, but He’s also looking to strengthen individuals who are willing to wholeheartedly place their trust in Him.”

In addition to that Lysa reminds us of another enduring truth that fuels and nurtures prevailing hope.

God has been faithful before, and He will be faithful again.

She reminds us that fear makes us forgetful. This is why we must purposefully look back and trace God’s hand of faithfulness in our lives. God’s faithfulness before assures us He will be faithful again. (Hebrews 10:35-36) We see this truth not only as we look back at our own lives, but also as we read the story of God’s faithfulness woven throughout all of Scripture.

He sees. He knows. He cares. We can rest assured in the strength of prevailing hope!

When Our Hearts Are Filled With Prevailing Hope … We Lean Into Challenges More Consistently

The complexities of our day demand that we embrace and express “prevailing hope”.

It is ours to possess … but as is always true, there is a price to pay … a non-negotiable price.

What we gain is priceless, so let’s say yes to Him and to His prevailing hope.

I know that I am in … and you?
