The Words That We Articulate Should Be As Powerful As The Love That We Demonstrate … Honorable Speech Matters

Living faith is not a matter of keeping rules, observing traditions or being increasingly religious.

The truth is that “being” is far more important than “doing”.

Jesus confronted the hypocrisy of religious leaders, and He commanded His disciples to live in an entirely different kind of way.

This is also the theme of Christ’s earliest teachings that are a part of what we have called the “Sermon On The Mount”. In this passage, Jesus made it clear that His followers should hold to a much higher standard of conduct — the standard of love and selflessness that Jesus Himself would embody when He died on the cross for our sins.

Here is a classic expression of this integrated life of faith that we are called to embrace.

I love these words from Psalm 19:14 (KJV), “May the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O Lord, my strength, and my Redeemer.”

We all can use our words to speak life and to sow the seed of hope in the hearts of others.

Delonna Gibbs in her article “Honoring God With My Words” makes this point for us in a profound manner. She addresses the importance of using our words to speak life and to nurture the hearts of others.

Consider these words from Delonna …

“Holy Spirit we ask that you teach us how to speak life into people. We ask you to show us how to speak in loving ways to draw others towards you. May we not speak from pride, hurt, resentment or anger but speak out of love. We want to honor you with our speech but need your help for our tongues are a two-edged sword that can bring either healing and life into a situation or we can speak death over it with our judgement or critical spirit.

God, we ask that you help us to speak life over our God Sized Dreams. We pray that you will give us a renewed spirit of hope for all our dreams. We ask that you help us to mediate on the dream with a heart of faith and not of fear. We trust that you are moving in all our God Sized Dreams. We thank you Abba Father for the dreams you are restoring in our weary hearts Lord. Thank you for reminding us through divine appointments how much you love us. Thank you for all the love letters you are bringing to mind right now. All those moments are confirmation of how much you love us. Thank you for showing us how much you love each of us.”

So powerfully spoken … and these words are piercing to us and will be profitable for us as well.

Let’s embrace this posture … take on this position and believe God for powerful results.

This is the call that has been given and this is what God has mandated for all of us.

This is our focus … and from this position God will fashion our hearts.

It certainly does … and I am all in!
