The Last Week Of The Year Is Always My Most Intense Period Of Introspection And Intercession

The truth is that God is the midst of everything and He reveals Himself in the most amazing ways.

This reality is clearly expressed in these words that I heard several years ago, “God often does His supernatural work in such a natural way that only the discerning will perceive it”. (Charles Sibthorpe)

This is so true!

We will need to train our hearts to hear Him, to walk with Him and to follow Him … in good times and bad and in moments of brokenness and blessing.

I am extremely aware of the importance of these days of transition as we end one year and embrace the new one.

I know that strong finishes and new beginnings are fragile moments that we will need to capture and craft with great intentionality.

Having all of this in mind is what moves me to make this bold declaration …

The Last Week Of The Year Is Always My Most Intense Period Of Introspection And Intercession

This matters so much to me because …

▪ it is my desire to prove myself faithful in all things
▪ it is my desire to be push forward into every opportunity
▪ it is my desire to put on the new and put off the old
▪ it is my desire to please the heart of God in every action and thought
▪ it is my desire to pursue things that are eternal and everlasting
In an effort to assure that all of these things are fulfilled in my life in every way, I have determined to engage in a “Personal Spiritual Inventory”.

Tonight, after a sincere season of prayer and reflection, I will ask the Lord to search me deeply, to speak to me pointedly and to show me specifically what He desires for me and from me.

The desire is to determine how my present realities measure up with God’s plans and purposes for my life.

The intent is that I can prepare a pathway that leads me to His preferred future for me..

The process that I have crafted is built around three (3) movements that I want to share with you in the hope that it will enable and empower us to be all that He wants us to be.

▪ Evaluate spiritual progress over the last year – make an honest list of where you have grown, where you have struggled and where you have failed? It is important that we make measurable spiritual progress, are sincere about our shortcomings and straightforward about our failures.
▪ Establish a list of significant things that have been revealed or fulfilled – think carefully about lessons that have been learned over the year, wisdom that has been revealed and promises that have been fulfilled. In doing this, you do steward well all that has been given, show appreciation for all that has been accomplished and shape your spiritual journey with sincerity and authenticity. Speak life in this way and stand back to see all that God can do! Document all of this clearly and carefully.
▪ Embrace the spiritual position that will be required to make the changes that will be clearly revealed. All that has been done in this process is intended to give us a true perspective of who we are, where we want to go and how to have the possibility to walk with God into new places and to serve Him at new levels. Define what all of this means to you.
Seriously … it is making these things happen that we will find the favor of God and His blessing!

I am genuinely looking forward to engaging in this process again … and I gently want to ask you to join me.

So, go ahead, take a brave step and say yes to all of this!
