Pastor’s Story:
“I served ICA Surabaya initially as the young adults pastor, then branch campus pastor, and have now served as lead pastor for five years. Are you kidding me? I was built for this! I love the people, the variety in my job, the food; and being from Seattle, I love seeing the sun every day.”

Challenges:
“One of the challenges we face is finding qualified staff that fit our context. Looking outside of Indonesia for staff is difficult. As a result, we have established an internship program to help us identify next generation leaders and raise them up from within.”

Successes:
We have built an increasingly robust missions program that engages many in our congregation:

• ICA Surabaya works with at risk inner city youth and children: a weekly feeding program, established an English center, weekly children’s outreach, and Youth Development program.
• We have sent six church planting teams into a large UPG in Indonesia to plant churches.

• Building church buildings for Indonesian Assemblies of God congregations across Indonesia at a rate of 7 buildings per year (we just started #37 and #38). This provides some of our best men’s ministry opportunities as well.

Current Stats:
ICA Surabaya is 87% Indonesian and 13% international. It is an Indonesian Assemblies of God church that has services in both English and Indonesian. Most Internationals in Surabaya are here for business or as educators. Many of the Indonesians at ICA Surabaya are global citizens; having lived or attended school outside of Indonesia.
