Abiding In Him Or Hiding From Him … Deciding Between Renewal Or Ruin!
As we all know, every choice has consequences.

This is a lesson that we need to learn early and promptly put into practice.

The moment we make a decision we set a process in motion that will produce very predictable results.

There is no surprise here and no one can stop what is set in motion. You can apologize for the confusion, you can ask for forgiveness for the chaos … but you can not eliminate the consequences.

Good choices, good consequences … bad choices … that’s right, bad consequences.

There are many ways to describe this …

▪ Some refer to Newton’s Third Law of physics … “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”
▪ Others reference Galatians 6:7 – “Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap.”
▪ My personal favorite is a quote from a comedian, “If you eat fat, greasy food you will become a fat, greasy dude.”
You get my point … and this is true for every choice and every decision.

Even this one … especially this one!

Abiding In Him Or Hiding From Him … Deciding Between Renewal Or Ruin!
This is the clear message that we have been given.

We are commanded and compelled in the Word of God to live near to the heart of God, to abide in His presence and to embrace His blessings … and we are specifically spoken to about the devastation that we will endure if we chose to hide from Him.

Our choice determines the consequence.

Choose to abide and we experience renewal on every level … choose to hide and we will encounter ruin on every level.

It truly is as simple as that!

The scriptures are full of repeated examples of this reality. The good and bad choices are all recorded, specifically so that they can be an example for us. They are given to be eternal lessons to shield us from failure and to keep us in safe places.

Let’s continue to read them because even though they are painful to read, they are profitable to us.

Also, this is a great moment to revisit John 15.

“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7 If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.

So piercingly clear … the heart of Jesus and His desire for us, so powerfully revealed!

Can we hear it … will we say yes to do it?

I know where I want to be … and I am sure that you do as well.
