An Intimate Heart Relationship With God … Inspires Healthy Relationships With Others

There is nothing more real or relevant to our hearts than a sense of “closeness”.

It is closeness that nurtures connection and ultimately creates a bond that cannot be broken.

This is a fixed relational reality and thus it becomes a prioritized principle that must be put into play for relationships of every kind.

Babies want a cuddle, those who experience young love want to hold hands and all of us, at any age know that loving and being loved brings a deep sense of affirmation and approval.

This is the longing of every heart and when we experience this, we are healthy, confident and strong … and when we do not, we are unhealthy, insecure and fragile.

God designed and destined us to be together in every way and to experience unity at the highest levels.

I love this passage from Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 …

“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up! Again, if two lie together, they keep warm, but how can one keep warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

The man of wisdom spoke these words, Jesus lived them out with His disciples and now He calls on us to make them a reality in our lives, in every way.

It is critical that we know that this will always …

▪ be a gifted opportunity that we dare not miss
▪ walk us into real life, eternal & abundant
▪ be what I want more than anything
▪ wrestle against all that is wrong
▪ work deep within us
▪ be my wish for everyone

It is in truly loving God that we will have the grace and the grit to love others. Jesus has already committed His love to us and commissioned us to share His love with others.

I love this song that was published by Maranatha Music. This speaks to the aim of our service and to the attitude of our hearts.

(Chorus)

He said freely, freely
You have received
Freely, freely give
Go in My name
And because you believe
Others will know that I live

(Verse 1)
God forgave my sin in Jesus’ name
I’ve been born again in Jesus’ name
And in Jesus’ name I come to you
To share His love as He told me to

(Verse 2)
All power is given in Jesus’ name
In earth and heaven in Jesus’ name
And in Jesus’ name I come to you
To share His love as He told me to

What a wonderful opportunity we have been given … to receive from God richly and to give to others generously.

This calls out to me … and I do pray that it calls out to you as well.
